About the Budapest University of Technology and Economics

The earliest predecessor institution of the Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME), the Institutum Geometrico-Hydrotechnicum, founded in 1782, was the first civil engineering training institute in Europe to teach technical sciences within a university organization. The primary task of the University of Technology is to train specialists in engineering, IT, natural sciences, as well as economics, business and management. The mission of BME, inseparable from education, is scientific research, which encompasses basic and applied research that forms the innovation chain, technical product and service development, and the utilization of results.
